Short-Term vs. Long-Term Therapy: What to Choose
You don’t always need “years of therapy”—but sometimes, only time can create a deep, lasting effect. The choice between short-term and long-term therapy depends not only on your specific issue but also on your goals, the depth of the internal conflict, and your desire to create real, not just superficial, change in your life.
Short-Term Therapy
This approach is a good fit if you:
- Want to address a specific situation, feeling, or decision.
- Are going through an acute crisis and need support right here, right now.
- Are unsure about committing to long-term work but want to give it a try.
In short-term therapy, we stay focused. We work on a specific issue over 5–10 sessions with a clear goal. This is often enough to ease your state, provide new tools, and help you understand the next steps.
Long-Term Therapy
This is the path for those who:
- Feel stuck in repetitive life patterns.
- Want to understand the root causes of their symptoms, not just “reduce anxiety.”
- Are ready for deep internal transformation and growth.
In long-term therapy, we not only manage acute states but also work on how you live, feel, make choices, and build relationships. This provides stability, depth, and the opportunity to not just cope, but to truly start living your own life.
